Danuta Wisniewska

OAs a bioacoustician and a behavioural and sensory ecologist, I am most interested in how echolocating animals perceive and interact with their environment. My research so far has focused on the generation and active control of biosonar signals by toothed whales. It involved application of DTAG-3 tags to investigate how odontocetes actively use their acoustic gaze, by adjusting signal level, repetition rate and beamwidth, to explore their surroundings and capture prey. Currently I work on quantifying the effects of vessel noise on harbour porpoise foraging behaviour.
