For my master’s thesis I am working with acoustic and kinematic data from Dtags attached to a variety of odontocetes along with odontocete skeletal data. I’m investigating search behaviour in rostral and non-rostral odontocetes with particular emphasis on lateral head motion. I am hoping this study will give more context to odontocete foraging behaviour and begin to understand why odontocete rostrum and head odontocete varies across species. My thesis title is “A comparison of cervical and posterior anatomy with fine-scale kinematic and acoustic search behaviour in rostral and non-rostral odontocetes” and I am being supervised by Dr Mark Johnson and Dr Sascha Hooker.
